Polish Those Tentacles and Put a Top Hat on that Head!

Thanks to Stan Yan and Squid Works, Miss Prothero's Books will be hosting a very special opening, book release and reading on February 1. Last October, area cartoonists participated in Denver's 4th annual comic book challenge. The challenge was to write and draw a 24 page comic in 24 hours. To celebrate the feat of completing the challenge, Squid Works Comics is releasing the 24 Hour Comics People anthology. Contributing artists will be on hand to sign copies of the anthology, narrate passages from their stories, and answer questions. A Very Small Bundle

Because it's the anniversary of the 1st publication of Poor Richard's Almanac, I have a Ben Franklin aphorism on today's quote board -- "A man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle."

The quote seems appropriate to the season. There is something narcissistic about the American way of giving. We are what we buy. If you listen to jewelers, self-esteem depends on a paycheck and a perfect diamond.
